Williamson will play in tonight's second T20 international against the West Indies in Mt Maunganui, having been rested for their last 3 games.

Without him the Black Caps wrapped up the one-day series and beat the Windies by 47 runs in the first T20 game in Nelson on Friday.

Williamson says it was good to have a few days away.

"10 days... it was something like having to practice to have a break, but it was great to watch the lads, they played outstandingly in the last 3 games so hopefully we can continue it out there."

"I had a few days off and then got back into training, especially with these games coming up here (Bay Oval) and a big home summer, so you are keeping an eye on what's ahead, but at the same time trying to relax and enjoy that time away as well."

Williamson admits he doesn't know too much about his home ground of Bay Oval.

"Not a huge amount, but it's a great looking ground and it's nice to be able to play international cricket here in you backyard, the pitch has come a long way, it's been a really good surface and now with the lights up it'll be a great spectacle come game time."

Williamson's return means there will be at least one change, with the skipper expecting Bay Oval to play similar to Saxton Field in Nelson.
