Docherty wins opening triathlon round

New Zealand's two-time Olympic medallist Bevan Docherty has won the opening race of the 2010 world triathlon series in Sydney.

After a disappointing last season where Docherty slipped to 13th on the world rankings because of injury and illness, the 33 year old lead from the front to win the first round in the eight-race series.

In the women's race Christchurch's Andrea Hewitt finished second behind Barbara Raviroz from Chile.
