Wycliff Palu's Super rugby season may be over after the Wallaby backrower sustained a serious knee injury during the New South Wales Waratahs' loss to the Crusaders in Christchurch on Saturday.
Palu was assisted off the field in obvious pain after falling awkwardly in a tackle in the second half of the Waratah's 20-13 defeat.
Waratahs coach Chris Hickey says scans were likely to confirm an initial diagnosis by the medical staff that the 27-year-old had torn an anterior cruciate ligament and possibly a medial ligament.
He says if that's the case Palu will probably go straight in for a knee reconstruction, which would rule him out for up to six months.
