The White Ferns player Amy Satterthwaite has been named the Women's Big Bash Player of the tournament.

"It's a real surprise after what's been another incredibly successful and entertaining season across all teams. The WBBL keeps going from strength to strength and as a player you have to keep improving your game in order to perform."

The award is decided by umpires who vote after each match.

The Sydney Sixers claimed back to back Women's BBL titles - beating Perth by nine wickets in the final in Adelaide.

The Adelaide Strikers won the men's BBL title with a 25-run win over the Hobart Hurricanes in the final.
