Murphy believes he's competitive once more

The New Zealand motor racing driver Greg Murphy says he's competitive again.

Murphy believes he has his best chance in several years of repeating the success he enjoyed at Pukekohe when he competes in this weekend's round of the V8 Supercar Championship in Hamilton.

This year Murphy's moved to the Queensland-based Paul Morris Motorsports after struggling with Tasman Motorsport and believes with the car he has, he can now compete with the likes of defending champion Jamie Whincup.

He says there's a big difference between the Holden he's driving now, which is the same as Whincup's, and the one he had last year.

On current form though Murphy's not the leading New Zealand contender for the Hamilton race however.

Shane van Gisbergen in his Stone Brothers Ford has already enjoyed a couple of podium finishes this season to be fourth overall.
