Bomb blasts before IPL match

9:50 am on 18 April 2010

The Mumbai Indians continue to lead the Indian Premier League Twenty20 cricket competition after a 57-run win over the second placed Royal Challengers in Bangalore, following a double bombing outside the stadium, injuring eight people and panicking thousands of fans.

The New Zealand cricketer Ross Taylor and former Black Cap Simon Doull were among those uninjured as two small bombs exploded outside, setting off panic among the thousands of people streaming into Chinnaswamy Stadium.

The game started an hour late amid increased security and Doull praised the security staff for a job well done.

Doull commentated on the match and says there would have been more chaos if the game had been called off.

He says luckily another, much bigger bomb timed to go off after the match was found and he's pleased to be finishing up his commentating commitments tomorrow at Delhi.

Doull then flies back to New Zealand and he says he'll be fairly happy when the plane takes off with him on board.
