The Australian Jamie Whincup has extended his lead in the Australian V8 Supercar championship to nearly 200 points with his wins in Hamilton.

Whincup retained the Mark Porter Trophy when he followed up Saturday's street race win with another yesterday to make it nine Holden wins in New Zealand in the

last 10 years.

Mark Winterbottom's second in the championship with James Courtney still third,

While the New Zealanders finished outside the top 10 on Saturday there were fighting performances yesterday from Shane Van Gisbergen and Jason Richards, who

finished eighth and 12th respectively.

Van Gisbergen was shunted out on the opening lap on Saturday but after qualifying inside the top-10 and suffering a lengthy pit stop, the 20-year-old battled well to retain sixth place in the

championship.
