The New Zealand triathlete Sam Warriner is back to her best with a win in the New Orleans half Ironman today while another New Zealander, Terrenzo Bozzone, finished second in the men's event.

Warriner's raced only twice since breaking a wrist in the the Takapuna round of the Contact Tri Series back in February and despite still showing some signs of the injury she topped a world class field.

She says her left forearm ached at the end of the swim, where she was nearly five minutes behind the leaders, and she also had problems with her bike on the 90 kiliometre ride but quickly caught up during the 21 kilometre run.

Bozzone clocked the day's fastest bike split to be right in contention entering the run but lost time to the American Andy Potts. Another New Zealand, Graham O'Grady, was seventh,
