Rugby World Cup travel packages selling at record levels

Rugby continues to buck the gloomy economic climate with expensive tour packages for the 2011 World Cup in New Zealand reported to be selling at record levels in England.

Organisers of English travel packages have reported a 37 percent increase in sales compared with the same stage of the 2007 tournament in France.

The most popular is a 19-night quarter-finals to final option ranging from just under $8700 for a basic international flights and match tickets deal to just over $18,000 for "all inclusive" arrangement with accommodation, internal flights and various excursions.

Justin Hopwood, head of sales and marketing for English rugby travel, says he's pleased but not entirely surprised as, given the tournament's growth, this could be the last time New Zealand hosts it.
