Is Jock Hobbs set to stand down from NZRU?

The chairman of the New Zealand Rugby Union, Jock Hobbs, admits it's been tough over the last few years, but is motivated to help get the organisation through its current economic battle.

The NZRU on Thursday announced a $16 million loss, their third straight year of financial hardship.

Hobbs helped save the New Zealand game in 1996 when it went professional and has been the chairman for the last eight years.

Following recent health concerns Radio New Zealand's rugby reporter wondered if Hobbs was close to standing down, however he says he is still fully motivated.

He says sorting out the national provincial game late last year was hugely satisfying.
