Swiss bank predicts Brazil to win Fifa World Cup

10:06 am on 27 April 2010

The Swiss bank UBS has made Brazil their favourites to win the Fifa World Cup which starts in South Africa in June.

Using the same formula that they used to predict the 2006 winner Italy, the bank's economists have again made their predictions with South Africa having the highest percentage chance of making the last 16, followed by Brazil, Spain, the Netherlands and England.

From there the Swiss bankers have calculated that Brazil have the best chance of winning the Cup, followed by Germany, the Netherlands and Italy.

They give England and Spain just a four percent chance of lifting the trophy.

New Zealand doesn't register in their calculations.
