Brewer takes over at Sale

The former All Black Mike Brewer has been appointed coach of the English rugby club Sale, replacing Jason Robinson.

Brewer will work with current Sharks director of rugby Kingsley Jones.

Robinson, who was part of England's 2003 World Cup-winning side, is leaving to return to farming as well as pursuing other interests in rugby.

Brewer, the former Scotland forwards coach, says it's a fantastic opportunity to work with one of the best clubs in the Premiership.

He says he had no plans to go into coaching and was delighted to respond in the club's hour of need.

Sale's Premiership status was secured last weekend after Worcester Warriors lost 12-10 at Leeds.

Brewer left the Scotland set-up in May 2009 after failing in his bid to succeed Frank Hadden as head coach.
