The Canberra Raiders held on to beat the Warriors 23-16 in their National Rugby League game at a rain-soaked in Auckland.

It was their first win at Mt Smart Stadium since 2001.

The Raiders scored three tries in 10 minutes early in the first half.

Auckland-born winger Drury Low, who was on debut, got things started, prop David Shillington grabbed the second try and within minutes Low had scored the third.

Terry Campese kicked two conversions.

The Raiders led 16-0 at half-time.

But Ukuma Ta'ai got the Warriors on the board in the 44th minute, and James Maloney converted, and then Patrick Ah Van's diving catch over the line of a pin-point Maloney kick moved the score on to 16-10.

But Maloney missed the conversion and then failed to find touch with a clearing kick, letting Joel Thompson get a fourth try for Canberra, and which Campese converted.

Marc Herbert capped the Raiders scoreline with a 71st minute field goal, taking the scoreline out to 23-10, though Brent Tate got a late converted try for the home side, minutes from the final whistle.

The result keeps the Warriors in 10th place on the table, and the Raiders move up to 12th.
