Anthony Kim, one of the hottest golfers on the PGA tour, has withdrawn from this week's prestigious Players Championship in Florida.
Kim, the world number 11 who finished third at the Masters last month, has a nagging thumb injury which he said last week would probably need surgery some time this year.
The world number three American Steve Stricker withdrew yesterday with a shoulder injury.
