NZ into T20 Super Eights after rain-affected win over Zimbabwe

The New Zealand cricketers are through to the Super Eight stage of the Twenty20 World Cup after an easy win in a rain-affected match against Zimbabwe.

Zimbabwe had gone into the tournament one of the form teams with warm-up wins over Australia and Pakistan, but after a sprightly start batting first, they collapsed spectacularly, losing eight wickets for 16 runs to be all out for 84.

Rain halted play one ball into the ninth over of New Zealand's run chase when they reached 36 for one, and by the time the rain stopped an hour and a half later, they'd run out of time to finish the match.

Nathan McCullum collected his second man of the match award after sweeping through Zimbabwe's middle order batting with three quick wickets, and Scott Styris took his three wickets in one over to hasten Zimbabwe's demise.
