FIFA throws more money at World Cup

Football's world governing body FIFA has thrown an extra 140 million dollars into the World Cup budget to ensure training grounds are ready for the 32 teams.

There have been media reports in recent months that some training grounds were below par, particularly the England camp in Rustenburg.

FIFA secretary general Jerome Valcke says the extra expense will easily be covered by the 4.5 billion dollar income generated by next month's football spectacular in South Africa.

Danny Jordaan, head of South Africa's World Cup organising committee, says FIFA has agreed to fund the increase out of its own revenue from ticket sales.

He says they haven't gone on their knees pleading for money, they've got enough money.
