Blackburn Rovers to play in Sydney

New Zealand football fans may not have to travel to South Africa or Northern England to see the All Whites captain Ryan Nelsen in action.

The English football club Blackburn Rovers have confirmed they'll play in a 4-team tournament in Sydney at the end of July as a buildup to the new Premiership season.

As well as Rovers and hosts Sydney FC, Argentine giants Boca Juniors and Scottish champions Rangers will complete the quartet for an event likely to attract worldwide attention.

Nelsen, who is captain of Rovers, is in New Zealand preparing for next month's World Cup in South Africa .

The All Whites will play in Melbourne in 10-days time as a part of their preperations for the World Cup.
