Ellis to stay with Tigers to 2013

The England rugby international Gareth Ellis has extended his contract with the West Tigers and will stay at the NRL club until the end of 2013.

Ellis says he originally intended to head back to the Super League, but his determination to win a premiership with the Tigers has kept him in Australia, where he says his family's very happy.

The tough second rower has added some much needed steel to the Tigers' forward pack and coach Tim Sheens says Ellis's work ethic has rubbed off on the whole club.

But there's also been some bad news for the Tigers with frontrower Keith Galloway requiring hand surgery .

He'll be out for at last a month, dashing his State Of Origin hopes for the second year in a row.
