Mixed day for NZ bowlers in Bundaberg

6:40 am on 13 May 2010

The New Zealand men have a 2-1 lead over Australia after the opening day of the trans-Tasman bowls test series in Queensland but the women trail 1-2 half way through the best of six competition at Bundaberg.

The Black Jacks coach Dave Edwards says it's been a good day as the team rebuilds for the Commonwealth Games in October

The men's world number four, Ali Forsyth, won the blue ribbon singles and the Triples won too, but Edwards says the Pairs struggled to adapt to the artificial greens.

The women's Triple won and Edwards says although Val Smith lost her first singles test she's expected to turn the tables today while Manu Timoti and Jan Khan are improving after a narrow loss in the Pairs.
