Former Indian cricket greats have lashed current players after their early exit from the World Twenty20, blaming weakness against the bouncer and the poor standard of the Indian Premier League.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni's men failed to qualify for the semi-finals after a five-wicket loss to Sri Lanka yesterday, their third successive loss in the Super Eights round.

India won the title in 2007 but , failed to win a Super Eights match in the last two tournaments despite being the top-ranked side in Test cricket and No.2 in the 50-overs game.

India's most successful Test captain Sourav Ganguly, says the standard of cricket in the IPL is much lower and the batting great Sunil Gavaskar says India's batsmen looked weak against short-pitched bowling.
