NZ bowls team swept by Australia

The New Zealand lawn bowls team has been swept by Australia in a trans-Tasman series in Bundaberg.

Ranked number one and two in the world respectively, Australia flexed their muscles against the New Zealanders, winning both the men's and women's competitions, but only after surviving a countback in the latter.

Having lost two of the three trophies on offer in Brisbane last year, Australia gained immediate redemption as their road to the Delhi Commonwealth Games picked up momentum with a third clean sweep in four years against New Zealand.

New Zealand coach Dave Edwards says they can take a lot of positives from the event.

Edwards admits they're a bit disappointed, but says it was an opportunity for the combinations to gell.
