Mark Webber has emerged as a serious contender for this year's formula drivers championship after an all-the-way win at the Monaco Grand Prix.

The 33 year old Australian made light of four interruptions by the Safety Car on his way to a second comprehensive win in succession, leading home his young teammate Sebastian Vettel to give Red Bull their third straight one-two finish, and fourth of the season.

Robert Kubica took third place in a Renault, followed by Felipe Massa, Lewis Hamilton and Michael Schumacher.

Webber and Vettel share the championship lead with 78 points, Fernando Alonso has 73 and Jenson Button 70.
