FIFA's ethics committee will be investigating reported comments by the former head of England's Football Association, claiming a Russian-Spanish bribery conspiracy over the 2018 World Cup bid.

Lord David Triesman was forced to quit as England's bid head and FA chairman yesterday following a sting by the Mail on Sunday newspaper which recorded a phone conversation in which Triesman suggested Russia and Spain were planning to bribe referees at next month's World Cup in South Africa.
