The New Zealand Rugby Union has welcomed the IRB Council's approval of a draft new decade-long playing schedule with a renewed emphasis on traditional tours involving the top Test sides.

From 2012 the IRB plans to have northern hemisphere sides touring in June and southern hemisphere going to Europe in November each with a two or three match Test series and mid week games.

The NZRU's general manager professional rugby, Neil Sorenson, says it's a good result for New Zealand. as fans have been saying they really want a return to traditional tours where teams are seen only every four or five years.
