FIFA will investigate the substance of reported allegations by the former head of England's Football Association over a Russian-Spanish bribery conspiracy.

Triesman quit as England's 2018 World Cup bid chief and FA chairman on Monday after British newspaper the Mail on Sunday reported secretly recorded comments.

Triesman was quoted as saying that Russia would help Spain bribe referees during the World Cup in return for gaining its rivals support in the race to host the 2018 or 2011 tournament.

FIFA general secretary Jerome Valcke has confirmed that they'll be investigating, including the substance of the allegation and he says he wants it done as soon as possible..

The alleged comments have badly damaged England's bid to host the 2018 or 2022 World Cup.
