The New Zealand motor racing driver Scott Dixon says the shorter buildup to the Indianapolis 500 has certainly presented its challenges for the drivers and teams.

The buildup to North America's greatest race use to be a month long, but has now been cut in half with practice and qualifying taking just over a week.

Dixon, who is currently lying second in the IndyCar standings, has been the quickest in recent days, clocking speeds of 365 kilometres per hour.

Qualifying is this weekend and the race is next weekend.
