Several of the world's leading golfers have been scathing in their criticism of major changes to the iconic west course at Wentworth in England, venue for the $8 million British PGA championship.
The South African star Ernie Els, who owns a property on the Wentworth estate, has orchestrated the remodelling of the course which the top English player Lee Westwood has reduced the entertainment level for spectators.
Ross Fisher, Paul Casey and Rory McIlroy have also given aspects of the re-design the thumbs down.
Wentworth's famous par-five finishing hole has come in for most criticism with its raised green, protected by a burn running diagonally across the front of it.
