Springboks name team to face Wales

11:20 am on 24 May 2010

The Springbok selectors have announced a match 22 boasting 531 international caps for the Test against Wales in Cardiff on Sunday.

The new caps include Stormers wing Gio Aplon and flanker Francois Louw in the run-on side and Cheetahs wing Bjorn Basson on the bench.

Six overseas-based Springboks have also been included in the starting XV - fullback Frans Steyn, centres Jean de Villiers and Butch James, number eight Joe van Niekerk and props BJ Botha and CJ van der Linde.

Steyn last played for the Springboks in the Tri-Nations decider in Hamilton last August whilst James and van Niekerk last represented South Africa in August 2008.

Springbok coach Peter de Villiers says he's happy with the squad on offer, especially considering two South African teams are playing in the Super 14 final the same weekend.

He says the Welsh side will be up for the match and will be eager to prove themselves.
