So'oialo out of All Black contention?

The Hurricanes number eight Rodney So'oialo appears to be out of contention for All Black selection after being given permission by the NZRU to play for the UK Barbarians.

So'oialo flew out to London last night to play for the Barbarians in their two matches against England and Ireland over the next fortnight.

With the All Black squad being named on Sunday for the June Tests against Ireland and Wales it appears the 30-year-old 62-Test veteran is no longer required.

All Blacks coach Graham Henry says they have the utmost respect for So'oialo and his commitment to the black jersey and he goes with their blessing.

However, he says it's important to note that he is by no means out of their thinking when it comes to future selection.

The Hurricanes winger David Smith will also play for the UK Barbarians.
