The New Zealand football coach will give the injured All White, Tim Brown, all the time he can to recover from surgery and return to the World Cup squad, after he fractured his shoulder in the side's 2-1 loss to Australia In Melbourne.

The vice captain took two heavy falls during the first half of the match, fracturing his shoulder in the first fall, and landin directly on the injury in the second.

Brown will undergo surgery in Auckland this morning, and a final decision on his likely recovery time will be made next week.

The All Whites coach, Ricki Herbert, says Brown is an integral part of the team, and will be a big loss if he can't make next month's World Cup in South Africa.

A replacement, likely to be drawn from the seven put on stand-by when the 23 man-man squad was named, will be named in the next 24 hours and will travel to Austria for this weekend's match against Serbia.
