Peverly excited at All Whites prospects

Midfielder Cole Peverley says he's excited at the prospect of joining up with the All Whites, despite not being part of the official football world cup squad.

Peverly is winging his way to Austria to join the All Whites as cover for the injured Tim Brown, who underwent shoulder surgery in Wellington on Thursday morning.

The All Whites vice-captain Brown's had three screws inserted into his shoulder in surgery designed to secure a fracture suffered in Monday's Socceroos friendly.

Until it's known if Brown can re-join the team, Peverly won't officially be part of the New Zealand side but it doesn't deter him after initally missing out on the 23-strong World Cup squad.

He says some players just put their head down, get angry and don't bounce back but you can't do that and you have to put your head down and show the coach that you deserve to be there.
