NZ rowing crews ease into World Cup regatta

Just three New Zealand crews will compete in the opening World Cup rowing regatta in Slovenia this weekend.

Four time world champion Mahe Drysdale is still recovering from an injury and won't race this weekend, preferring instead to maximise recovery time before racing and looking to the later regattas to make his mark.

That will leave the spotlight firmly on the world champion men's pair of Eric Murray and Hamish Bond, who themselves have had several small interruptions to their training programme. Hamish Bond, who has had a rib stress fracture, says they're not expecting too much this weekend in Bled.

Also racing is single sculler Emma Twigg and the women's quad.
