Italian veteran makes womens semis in Paris

Francesca Schiavone has made history for Italian tennis at the French Open as the first woman from her country to make the last four of a grand slam singles event in the Open era.

29 year old Schiavione surprised herself and shocked the Danish third seed Caroline Wozniacki 6-2 6-3, nine years after reaching the last eight on her first appearance at Roland Garros.

Her opponent in the semi-finals will be the Russian Elena Dementieva
