Anzac Test set for Christchurch

8:09 am on 6 June 2010

Christchurch will host the Anzac rugby league Test on May 6th next year, the first time in 13 years that the early-season international between the Kiwis and the Kangaroos has been played in New Zealand.

The news that AAMI Stadium will host the match also ends a five-year wait since Christchurch last staged a league Test.

The last time the Kiwis played in Christchurch was against Great Britain in the 2006 Tri Nations.

The only previous time the Anzac Test has been played in New Zealand was the 1998 encounter at North Harbour Stadium when the Kiwis won 22-16, the only time they have prevailed in the traditional encounter since it was introduced in 1997.
