New Zealand's former world champion Ben Townley has finished third in the first race at an Outdoor Motocross event in Texas for his first AMA podium finish \of the year.
Townley tangled with another rider in the second moto and despite a grazed back and side he remounted chased the pack but after moving up to 14th the heat was too much for him and he finished 16th.
Round three of the 12 round series heads to Pennsylvania next weekend.
Another New Zealand, Josh Coppins, has finished 12th and 14th in round seven of the
of the MX1 World Championship in France and remains 14th overall.
