Hareb to face reigning World Surfing Champ in quarterfinals in Peru

The New Zealand surfer Paige Hareb will square off against the reigning World Champion Stephanie Gilmore in the quarter-finals of the Movistar Classic in Peru after both women made easy work of their heats.

Hareb was relatively untroubled on her way to the quarter's while Gilmore posted the day's highest score of 16.50 out of 20 in the one metre San Bartolo break to set up the clash.

Peru's former world champion Sofia Mulanovich narrowly escaped an early elimination, pulling out some last-minute heroics to overtake replacement surfer Sage Erickson of the United States and advance to the quarter-finals.

Currently third in the standings, Mulanovich will take on the in-form Australian Chelsea Hedges in the quarters.
