The New Zealand football coach Ricki Herbert has coined the All Whites last hit out before the World Cup a success despite losing 2-nil to Chile in South Africa.

The game was split into three half hour segments instead of two halves allowing both coaches to give the majority of their squads a run.

The All Whites competed for more than an hour before conceding two late goals but with Herbert emptying the bench in the last period he says he's more than happy with the result.

IN: The first two halves...

OUT: ...no I'm very pleased.

DUR: 14 secs.

Ricki Herbert says he's just one position away from finalising the starting 11 for the All Whites first up clash with Slovakia on Tuesday night.
