Jamaica's Asafa Powell lowered his own year's-best time in the 100 metres, clinching victory at the Rome leg of the Diamond Athletics League in a time of 9.82 seconds.
The French pair of Christophe Lemaitre and Martial Mbandjock finished second and third in a dead heat with a time of 10.09 seconds.
The 27-year-old Powell had set the year's previous fastest time of 9.83 seconds in Ostrava, Czech Republic in May.
The Olympic bronze medallist ran a 9.72 seconds 100 metres in Oslo last week but with an illegal tailwind of 2.1 metres per second.
