The All Blacks first five Dan Carter says he's proud to have become the first New Zealander to score more than 1000 test points in the 66-28 thrashing of Ireland in New Plymouth .

Carter kicked seven conversions and a penalty as the All Blacks took advantage of Irish number eight Jamie Heaslip's sending off in the 16th minute.

He says he knew he was close to joining England's Jonny Wilkinson, Welshman Neil Jenkins and Italy's Diego Dominguez in the thousand point club,

But he says he wasn't sure how many points they'd scored.

Carter says while personal records mean little compared with the team's success he's happy with the achievement and hopes there's more to come.
