Formula One driver Michael Schumacher escaped a penalty after colliding with his former team mate, Felipe Massa, during the Canadian Grand Prix.

The seven-time world champion was investigated by stewards after the pair made contact near the end of the 70-lap event.

Massa's Ferrari was damaged in the incident and he was forced to return to the pits for repairs, while Schumacher, who struggled for grip on the slippery road surface, was able to continue.

Stewards spoke with both drivers but decided that no further action was needed.

Britain's Lewis Hamilton held off his McLaren team mate Jenson Button to win the Canadian Grand Prix, and jump to the top of the Formula One drivers' championship.
