Southern Steel beat Northern Mystics

The Southern Steel remain in the trans-Tasman netball play-off picture but have eliminated the Northern Mystics after a 50-43 victory in Auckland last night.

The Steel scored their 4th straight win to stay third in the standings with one round remaining.

The Steel managed to restrict star Mystics shooter Cathrine Latu to just 17 shots, but Maria Tutaia managed to take up some of the slack shooting 26 from 32 attempts.

Steel captain Megan Dehn says they waivered a little at times, but then they stepped up and brought it home and she's really happy they're hopefully continuing on into the finals.

The Steel sit in third place on the ladder, one place ahead of the Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic, and will finish the regular season with a trip to Sydney next Monday to face the unbeaten Swifts.

The Steel, Magic and Queensland Fiirebirds are fighting for the last two play-off places.

Last night the Firebirds thumped the Canterbury Tactix 75-32 in Brisbane.
