The New Zealand golfer Ben Campbell has qualified strongly for the matchplay phase of the British Amateur Championship in Scotland.

Campbell, who's from Masterton, finished in a share of fifth on four-under par after the 36-hole strokeplay qualifying, three behind the top qualifier, England's Tommy Fleetwood.

He fired a four-under 67 in his second round at North Berwick after an even par 71 at Muirfield in the strokeplay qualifying.

Waikato's Mat Perry missed out after finishing in five-over 145.
