Drysdale out of Munich World Cup regatta

World champion Mahe Drysdale has decided not to race in this weekend's World Cup rowing regatta in Munich as he continues to recover from a back injury.

Drysdale suffered the injury earlier this year at the National trials and hasn't been able to race since.

He says he probably could have raced this weekend, but after a discussion with coach Richard Tonks it was decided that there wasn't much to gain and they didn't want to take any risks as the World Championships at Lake Karapiro in October is the main target this year.

Drysdale says he'll race at Henley in a fortnight and then the third World Cup a week after that.

There are a half a dozen New Zealanders competing in Munich this weekend.
