Capello rebukes Beckenbauer, bashes ball

7:36 am on 19 June 2010

England's manager Fabio Capello has told Franz Beckenbauer to show his team some respect and lambasted the World Cup ball as the worst he has ever come across.

Capello's been stung by Beckenbauer's accusation that his players reverted to kick and rush tactics during their opening game against the United States and have gone backwards under the Italian recently.

Capello says Beckenbauer's comments are needless and wrong as England didn't play the long ball in their 1-1 draw with the USA.

And he says the the controversial Jabulani ball, produced by Adidas specifically for the tournament is so light it's impossible to control.
