Australian cricketers win opener in Dublin

7:21 am on 19 June 2010

The Australian cricketers have opened their tour of Britain and Ireland with a 39-run victory over Ireland in a one-day match in Dublin.

Australia scored 231 for 9 with Tim Paine scoring 81 and then bowled Ireland out for 192 with James Hopes taking 5 for 14.

It was a good test for the Australians who now have a practice match against Middlesex this weekend before the opening ODI of the five-match series against England next Tuesday.

Australia play two tests against Pakistan at the end of this tour.
