Not good enough: Gerrard

12:31 pm on 19 June 2010

An uninspiring scoreless draw with Algeria has the England footballers perilously near the World Cup exit door and their fans and critics united in derision.

England's second draw means Fabio Capello's side must now beat group leaders Slovenia in the final game of the group stage.

England skipper Stephen Gerrard isn't blaming the pressure - he says that's a part of playing at this level and they just weren't good enough.

The USA came back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with Slovenia in the other pool game, leaving Slovenia top with four points while the Americans and the English have two each, and Algeria just a single point but still in it.

All bar Slovenia need a win to guarantee they go through while Slovenia just need a draw in the final pool game.

Meanwhile 10-man Germany slumped to a shock 1-0 loss to Serbia.
