Poll puts football above rugby

A new poll shows more New Zealanders are interested in the All Whites' performance at the football World Cup than the All Blacks' performance in either the Ireland / Wales rugby tests or in the Tri-nations.

Thirty six percent of the 1112 respondents to the UMR Research poll conducted from June 16-22 say they are more interested in the All Whites while just 15 per cent are more interested in the All Blacks' Ireland-Wales tests.

But 40 percent say they are equally interested in both, while 9 per cent aren't interested in either.

For the Tri Nations there's a 3 per cent rise for rugby and a 2 per cent fall for football with 38 percent interested in both equally and 9 percent not interested in either.
