ABs selectors dump Guildford, overlook Gear

The selection of only two specialist wingers has been the major talking point of the All Blacks squad named yesterday for the Tri-Nations series.

Corey Jane and Joe Rokocoko are the two wingers in the squad of 28, and the omission of the in-form Hurricanes and NZ Maori rep Hosea Gear is regarded by many as the major shock, while Hawkes Bay's Zac Guildford is having to deal with his first national dumping.

Coach Graham Henry says both players are a victim of numbers, while the 23 year old Auckland utility Rene Ranger has been described as a "special project" with his ability to play second five centre and wing.
