Selection policy cuts Gear from Tri-Nations squad

8:43 am on 28 June 2010

The omission of the in-form Hurricanes and NZ Maori winger Hosea Gear is regarded by many as the major shock in the All Blacks squad of 28 for the Tri-Nations series.

Gear has lost out to Joe Rokocoko and utility Rene Ranger, and coach Graham Henry says both Gear and Hawkes Bay's Zac Guildford are victims of a two-wing selection policy.

The All Blacks play the Springboks first up in the Tri-Nations in Auckland on the 10th of July.
