Trial NZ Sevens squad named for Commonwealth Games

All Blacks Adam Thompson and Zac Guildford have been named in a 22 strong Sevens trial squad for the Commonwealth Games in New Dehli in October.

The squad also includes New Zealand Maori winger Hosea Gear and the IRB's Junior Player of the Year, New Zealand under-20 player Julian Savea.

The players assembled in Mount Maunganui today and will train until Thursday with a 14 strong Games squad named next month.

The full squad is: Toby Arnold, Jason Hona, Solomon King, Zar Lawrence (Bay of Plenty), Kurt Baker, Beauden Barrett, Ben Souness Taranaki, Tomasi Cama, Lote Raikabula (Manawatu), Edwin Cocker (Auckland),

Hosea Gear, Julian Savea, (Welllington), Zac Guildford (Hawke's Bay), Brendon Leonard, Tim Mikkelson, Save Tokula (Waikato), Ben Smith, Adam Thomson (Otago).
